A WORLD WITHOUT BORDERS

This city, this country is a babel. There are people from everywhere. The last years , many refuged people from Africa had arrived. Many of them use their characteristic dresses with dignity. The marry registers shows that we have 96 different nationalities in the city.
Anyway, the American that speaks Spanish are absolute majority everywhere.A person can live the hole life here not speaking English. Signs are in Spanish, translators, employees that speak Spanish.
Central American pass the South border in all kind of imaginable ways, Asiatics arrive from Pacific ocean coast, Dominicans through De la Mona Channel to Puerto Rico, almost swimming, where they try to marry with a boricua. Brazilian and South American, with the exception of people of southern countries, cross the Mexican frontier or arrive from Pacific Ocean. They put their lives at risk to go "where there are" as Eduardo Galeano says.

It seems that there are around 12 millones of undocumented people. There is an organization of Filipins who said that they have a millon of undocumented Filipinos. People without legal status stay at the shadows, always scared, don't use health services putting their lives at risk. They drive without driving license, living constantly at fear.

Thank you for the timely story, Lakale. However, I need clarification on Eduardo Galeano's quote if you can give it to me. I will do the usual thing. I will leave the story UNCORRECTED for awhile until I get time. (My students might want to copy it and try to correct it first. Then I will do what I always do. I will correct the story using capital letters and hope that I don't change your intended meaning. I also must be careful that I don't destroy the FEELINGS that you have for the undocumented people who are here in the United States. Thank you sincerely for helping my class!

Eduardo Galeano is one of the best writers of Uruguay. "where there are" means where you may find enough resources to eat and survive.

Somehow my story, Plants Listen to Beethoven got tucked "under" your story, Lakale instead of on top of it. I don't know how that happened. I will get around to correcting this story, I promise.
